Huron Occupational Health Solutions (Huron OHS)
Our Commitment to Your Privacy
At Huron Occupational Health Solutions, we understand that health information is deeply personal. We are fully committed to providing professional, ethical, and confidential health screening and wellness services.
Our nursing and healthcare professionals strictly adhere to the professional practice standards, ethical frameworks, and guidelines set by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), as well as Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and other applicable privacy legislations.
1. Professional Standards and Regulatory Compliance
As regulated healthcare professionals, our team operates under strict professional accountabilities:
- CNO Standards: All clinical services, health assessments, and screenings are delivered in accordance with the CNO’s practice standards, ensuring competence, ethical conduct, and client safety.
- PHIPA Compliance: We handle all personal health information (PHI) with the utmost care, ensuring that collection, use, retention, and disclosure comply fully with Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act.
2. Collection of Personal Health Information
We only collect information that is reasonably necessary to provide our on-site workplace health screening, vitality coaching, mental health resilience education, and infection prevention and control (IPAC) services. This may include:
- Basic employee identification details (name, employer, contact info).
- Non-invasive biometric health measurements and screening indicators.
- Relevant health history or lifestyle factors disclosed voluntarily during individual results reviews or wellness coaching sessions.
3. Confidentiality and Employer Reporting
Maintaining employee trust is central to what we do. We maintain a strict firewall between individual health data and employer reporting:
- Private Employee Results: Individual health assessments, biometric numbers, and personal coaching conversations remain strictly confidential between the employee and the attending Huron OHS healthcare professional.
- Aggregate Employer Reporting: Employers receive only anonymous, aggregate-level data and reporting to help them evaluate workplace wellness trends. No individual health information, diagnoses, or personal identifiers are ever shared with employers without explicit, informed consent from the employee.
4. Use and Disclosure of Information
Personal health information collected by Huron OHS is used solely for:
- Delivering requested onsite health screening and educational programs.
- Providing individuals with personal insights via tools like our Personalized Wellness Passport.
- Ensuring safe, high-quality clinical care and follow-up recommendations.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer personal health information to outside third parties, except where required or permitted by law (e.g., medical emergencies or statutory reporting obligations).
5. Security Safeguards
We implement robust physical, administrative, and technological security measures to protect personal health information against theft, loss, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, or modification.
